Montreal 24 Hours Inline Saturday, Zugersee SIC Results, Fallen Pan American Games Skaters, Where The SSW Fundraising Drive $'s Gone

Montreal 24 Hours Inline Saturday: Between the sun, the rain, the music, the shouting and hooting of the fans, and of course the skaters, the 24 Hours Inline Montreal is living up the exact history that it has created for itself. The atmosphere is electric here in Montreal- everyone is friendly and socializing, and of course racing.

I just wanted to take a few seconds and correct the rosters that I posted earlier- Mister Pauley is not on one of the teams that I mentioned in the previous entry, and Francois Louis Tremblay- I have not seen him. As I write this, I am in the Steve Robillard Et Ses Putes De Luxe (SRESPDL) paddock and Francois Hamelin has just arrived to bolster the already strong SRESPDL team. The team also includes Herb Gayle, Steve Robillard, Olivier Jean, Maxime Chantagy, Jeff Scholten, Mathieu Giroux, and Gabriel Girard.

Even though it has been raining for the better part of the first day, there were three teams in contention early on; OISC/ Il Peltoton Skelotons, Steve Robillard Et Ses Putes De Luxe, and C.D.R.S. 37 (from France- placed 5th at Le Mans 24 Hour). They were see-sawing back and forth changing the lead, but no one was really taking risks early on in the rain.

As I leave the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, SRESPDL is in control of the race, about 5-minutes in front of C.D.R.S. 37 and has just about lapped OISC/ Il Peltoton Skelotons.

I took quite a few photos from Saturday- click here to view my photos. If a video is something that tickles your fancy, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered; click here to view my video or press play below. It features a whole lot of coverage of the event.

And they’re off!

Eric Gee in the midst of his 24 hour solo skate. He has had his share of challenges already thanks to a defecting timing chip. I helped Eric out during one of his 1/2 hour breaks- I changed his wheels for him- he put on the MPC storm surge wheels

This is what it’s all about- the exchange, the team work, the friendships, everyone helping out, being nice, the camaraderie, and the shared experience of a wonderful event

Zugersee SIC Results: The Zugersee SIC took place yesterday. Click here for all the results.
Fallen Pan American Games Skaters: It was recently brought to my attention that each of the 7 Pan American Games team members/ alternates have had a crash in the last month. We've all had pretty bad road rash, torn muscles, aches, and pains. While being treated for my leg and shoulder injuries, many of the doctors were surprised to hear that skaters had no team doctors or medical staff to help them.

Where The SSW Fundraising Drive $'s Gone: I've been spending money, lots of it. The SSW Fundraising Drive brought in about $750, and the whole sha-bang is gone. Where is the money gone to you ask? I bought my plane ticket to Colombia ($1000), bought wheels for the Pan American Games ($1200), spent money on physiotherapy to get my shoulder in 'working order'- torn muscles and pinched whatever you call its. I just wanted to once again thank everyone who helped out and chipped in. I also thought I would let you know that the money is being spent on what I said it would be spent on.
