SSW Fundraising Drive Day #7 (Yesterday), Inline Planet- Olympic Committee Lowers the Bar, Lots And Lots Of Reports/ Pictures/ Videos

SSW Fundraising Drive Day #7 (Yesterday): I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the SSW Fundraising Drive that I held since the last week. The last official day for the drive was yesterday. A total of $220 came in yesterday & today, which brings the final total raised to $648.98. Just in case you'd like to throw in one last donation, I will put up the link to donate.

Over the past week, I've tried to explain what the money will be spent on, why I need the support, and the stories I would like to share on SSW. Seeing that right now I am trying to figure out what wheels will work on the Pan American Games track, I will be spending the money on my most pressing need; wheels, wheels, and more wheels.

Again, a huge thanks to the online community for rallying behind me. It means a lot and it helps a ton. I calculated that I will spend the better part of 1000 hours this year working on SSW. I do the work for the love of the sport as a fan and as a participant. I look at the donations as a sort of token of appreciation from all you SSW readers & fans- and to be honest with you, I did not expect the support to be that significant, but it was.

Thank you- fast on skates and online-

Inline Planet- Olympic Committee Lowers the Bar: The Inline Planet has posted an article that I enjoyed reading; Olympic Committee Lowers the Bar. It's another good one by Robert "Just the Factoids" Burnson.

Have fun exploring the following links- I'll start you off with SkatePodium's coverage- day 1, day 2, and day 3. Of course you want videos too; 500-meter cadet final and 10k pts/ elim junior ladies.

The next website that offers coverage is MundoPatin- there is lots and lots on this site and it is well organized. You can find all the goodies including results. Here are a few links of interest from MP- day 1 report with day 1 photos, day 2 report with day 2 photos, and up-to-date results.

Team Rollerblade is saying that they will post a race report online soon- you might get to this one before I do. I am travelling from rainy Montreal to Toronto later today.

Hoogeveen WOW- Harm de Boer Fotografie has posted a whole bunch of pictures that I wish I was in from the Hoogeveen World on Wheels- you can use the following links for quick access to the photos; women, C & veteran, B, and A. Engadin- Let's start off with an Engadin race report a from speedSK8rs.com. Lots of good stuff in the report- it's packed with pre-race, race, and post-race goodies and gossip and all sorts of neat pictures that you'll get a kick out of seeing. 'The wind blows in the right direction, the sun comes out: it is a good day for racing. My teammates will start in the second line group, hopefully they’ll make me proud… or at least less ashamed. Three, two, one, business as usual: Bang! The long skater’s snake take the first bend in less than 30 seconds, it’s going to be a fast pace. The helicopter is taken cinematic images from up there: where can we find its videos? Sooner or later I’ll find out'.

Now if you're up for a good read featuring a social analysis, a vivid description of the race, and all sorts of good stuff that you won't find anywhere else, Aaron Arndt posted his unique report. I won't quote anything of what Aaron wrote; it's worth clicking on the link and soaking it all in.

Andrew Hegarty's entry WIC - Engadin (St. Moritz) offers another perspective on this increaslingly legendary race; he put a video on his site that takes a really cool look at the Engadin course. You can view it below-

Canadian Championships- Alicia Weiss posted some very nice pictures from this weekend's Roller Sports Canada Canadian championships. I didn't have my camera during the awards presentation, but Candy Wong had hers- you can view her pictures from the awards presentations.
