Montreal 24 Hour This Weekend, Rainbows & Road Rash, Pan American Games Wind Up, Flying Lawn Chair Man & Jade, 3rd Time Charm

Montreal 24 Hour This Weekend: The Montreal 24 Hours Inline is taking place this weekend. There are 76 teams and 18 solo's that will take to the 4+km loop in Parc Jean Drapeau. I will be there taking some pictures. There's a very good possibility that I will post photos on Saturday evening and on Sunday evening as well- all for you to check out! I'll be trying to pay attention to the stories that are developing, but I will try to tell them with pictures.

Four of us will be featured on national television early on Saturday morning (Radio Canada). I was 'suckered' into the tv appearance- we've got to be at the studios in Montreal at 6am. And I thought I was going to be able to sleep in...

Ed Duncan's journey to Montreal begins- see his July 11th entry for more.

Rainbows & Road Rash: The end of this past Thurday's Toronto Inline Skating Club practice was rained out. When I arrived home from practice, I saw an awesome rainbow and managed to take a picture.

I rushed to take the picture and I was pleased with how it came out. I was even more pleased with how my dinner came out- grilled chicken breast mixed in with a yummy salad with herbs from my garden. Yum. And for desert? A yummy smoothie made with ice, watermelon, and grapes. Oh, smooothies, I am now sort-of obsessed with making smoothies and hard-core healthy bread. Mmmmmmm.

I am sorry for posting this next picture and I hope you're not grossed out. I've seen road rash that is MUCH worse (Andrew Hegarty multiple times)- but I thought I would post this picture (with the (nameless) victim's permission) in honour of all of us skaters who have fallen and either have mended or are on the mend.

Pan American Games Wind Up: In about one week, I will embark on a journey that I've been waiting on for a very long time- my journey to the Pan American Games. To be honest with you, I feel like my journey began when I first started dreaming about participating in the games. In one week, I will be on the plane to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I am super excited about this and I will start to focus SSW more on Pan American Games content. I won't be acting as a reporter though, and I am not allowed to either- the rules at the games are very strict.

I stumbled on my Pan American Games profile- other than my age, everything is accurate. You can explore the who the Canadian athletes are by clicking here.

The media focus is shiting some to athletes and federation people. I've been featured and included in a few newspaper articles. Roller Sports Canada has been getting calls and interview requests from the press.

This Pan American Games offer a great opportunity to represent roller sports & shed light on the realities that athletes and roller sports face. It is a chance to represent our coaches, clubs, countries, families, friends, and country.

Flying Lawn Chair Man & Jade: The article Lawn chair pilot flies with 105 balloons blew me away. You don't know how bad I have always wanted to do something like this! Speaking about flying, Jade Pauley flew over from Toronto to Switzerland in a more traditional way. Andrew Hegarty is repoting that Jade Pauley has arrived- see Jade.

3rd Time Charm: Eric Gee posted en entry called Third time is a charm. In the entry, he gives some good advice on blogging, making websites. I won't summarize everything for you, just check it out.
