Scooter’s Video, ...And Let The Invasion Begin, Aaron’s Favourite Places To Skate, USARS News, A Few Results/ Standings, Blading
Scooter’s Video: I don’t know if you’re getting tired of viewing my videos or not. If you are, check them out anyways! I’m sure there’s something in there that you’ll like. Anyways, here’s my latest video, shot during the Scooter’s Indoor Speed Club practice on January 31st. It’s only relays. Click here or press play below.
...And Let The Invasion Begin: Linda Wood is sharing photos from an ice clinic in Utah. She writes '22 Current and former in line speed skaters, gather together for one common goal.... to skate an ice clinic run by Olympic Gold & Silver Medallist, Derek Parra. On day one many skaters were "testing" the ice for the first time. By the end of the day, they were keeping up with some of the big dogs, or at least showing them, they had a "bark" to be afraid of!!...'.
Is this a sign of things to come? Is this the start of a (friendly) inline/ roller take over of ice skating in the USA? (photo Linda Wood)
Aaron’s Favourite Places To Skate: Aaron Arndt’s website is showing signs of life once again with the addition of a new article called Favourite Places to Skate - Demonstration Forest. I like his concept: He is planning on writing a series of articles about his favourite places in the world to skate. This has a lot of potential to be rich with information as Aaron has been all over the world!
USARS News: There’s been some chatter on the Hyper Message Board about USARS and how it deals with sponsored skaters. USARS has posted information on its website, a reminder to sponsored speed skaters.
Left to right: Fila (Scott Bliss), Luigino (Chris Creveling), Bont (Aaron Arndt)
These guys don't have to worry about policies about sponsorhip- then again, look at how cut that guy's arms are- if he's as fast & nice as he's cut, he'll eventually get sponsored and then he'll have to worry about sponsorship policies
A Few Results/ Standings: Click here for updated results from the Keystone League. John Ristine’s currently in the lead. Man, have you ever seen him sprint? He’s awful fast!
John Ristine
Blading: Here’s a word that I haven’t heard in ages! Blading! It reminds me of bladder. It’s kind of close to blader. Blader bladder. Try to say that 10 times real fast. Anyways, here’s an article that will allow you to take a trip down memory lane: How to Enjoy Blading Without Skinned Knees.

inline invasion?
You don't invade your friends, especailly when it's the people who have invited you & worked hard to give you this opportunity... at this point in the game, if it were not for key folks in the ice organization, this would not be happening..
also, I am not sure what "big dogs" they are referring to, the allaround national team is out of the country, and the sprinters just got back from norway.. I did share one ice session with the inliners, but right now I am a "sick & slow" dog, and certainly not a big one..
yes, there were some really talented inliners there out on the ice, some looked great, some were struggling..
they are all skaters, all are welcome..
(even though there is some resentment among ice folks at the amount of money they are getting... and there are LOTS of people angry about the fact these inliners were given USA skinsuits when they had not earned them.. but that is another topic)..
oh, and when it comes to USARS and that "sponsors" rule.. It is one of the reasons that corrupt, frightening organization is still tiny and irrelevant... may it wither and die the death it deserves....
Just look at ANY local joe-schmo cycling team, and you see SCADS of sponsors.. more than the any USACRS club has EVER had.. all because of this corrupt, inept, club-killing policy...
do I sound bitter? my first time stepping to the start line of an outdoor race in 1994, a USAC/RS offical came runninh over to me, SCREAMING that I needed to take off my skinsuit.. he was extremely rude..

Hey Andrew- thanks for your thoughful perspective- perhaps the word invasion was not be best one I could have selected. I guess what I was trying to show was my joy that other skaters get to enjoy ice skating. I would definitely used the same term had it been ice skaters trying to skate inline for the first time.
I competed in a Canada Cup long track race, and frankly, I was amazed by the depth of the field. Sure there were few Canadian big dogs present, but in my eyes, the skaters that kicked me around were still big dogs. This helped me understand how hard it would be do excel in ice.
Re. the USA skin suit- I have to be on your side about that one. We had an issue here in Canada prop up about non-world team/ pan am team members wearing the national suit.
I would LOVE (no pun intended) to hear more about your thoughts on USARS- our federation here in Canada- as far as I know- doenst stamp its foot down when it comes to sponsored logos.
