Happy Valentine's Day, My To-Do-On-A-Snow-Day List, SpeedCamp in Mallorca (Spain), A Few Pictures

Happy Valentine's Day: Happy Valentine's Day!

My To-Do-On-A-Snow-Day List:Whooooohooo! It’s a snow day today! The white gold is littering the streets, the cars are losing control, the cold is crazy, so school (work) is cancelled. I've been a teacher for 6 years now and there has been so many times when school should have been cancelled, but it wasn't. Fianlly, at last all the stars, better yet, all the snowflakes have aligned and now I get a real snow day!! It’s funny because all my teacher friends (and non teacher friends too) have something about the snow as their MSN screen names (for example ‘snoooooooooow - just let it happen’, ‘Where’s my car? I see a white driveway but no car’, and ’ SNOW DAY!!!’.

This is the white fluffy gold that I will shovel in a few minutes- just outside of my house. It does not seem like much, but it’s enough to cancel school!!!

As much as I miss my students, I am not missing the things that I put on my 'to-do-on-a-snow-day' list that I made last night before going to bed. My list includes:
- sleep in
- do laundry
- update my site
- train (running at the YMCA)- I was supposed to skate…I can’t
- work on training program data
- go to the movies
- go pick up my car DVD player that was getting fixed
- go pay the garage for some work I had done on my car

This is what I looked like this morning when I was sleeping in

Even Presti my cat is excited with today’s snow day; he gets to spend time with his 2nd most favourite person on earth: me! (he likes me because I give him food and lots of love)

SpeedCamp in Mallorca (Spain): Maybe Barry Publow will pay for me to go attend his SpeedCamp in Spain in May after he notices that I mentionned it here and I post a few pictures...Ahh dreams, I can dream on.

Check out the sweeet hotel; you can't go wrong with that

Of course, amongst all the things you can do, there will be some skating (Ulf Haase http://www.ulfhaase.se)

A detailed map of where you can find Mallorca- it's in the Mar Mediterraneo

A Few Pictures: Here are a few photos for you to enjoy.

I went to PJ’s Pet Centre the other day and saw that the Habitrail Playground (a maze for hamsters) had an inline skater on the box- of course I had to take a picture. And of course the first race that comes to mind when I look at that picture is Athens to Atlanta; A2A is a little bit like a maze, so DON’T get lost in A2A; it’s likely that you will be very frustrated. Now notice though that I didn't say not to do A2A; in my humble opinion, it's one of the greatest races/ events of all time

Skater Candy Wong was sick last week and was using a sort of etch-a-sketch thingy to write what she wanted to say

I still have that ever important quote from Alex Perrie in my mind ‘'Kids are the lifeblood of this sport. Without them we can just go out and buy a telescope and hope we can get a peek at that podium from a distance’. Here is Steve Robillard who spent a lot of time talking to and inviting this group of young athletes to watch the Canadian Championships. I think he’s got a good understanding of what Alex is saying.

Ice skating in Montreal’s Old Port (Viex Port)- Morgane Echardour poses for the camera & 26 year old industrial design genius Julien Mauroy skates on while they are bundled up to face the -33 Celsius temperature.

I love snow days! And so does my 16yr. old son :)
We had one yesterday and lucky for us, we still have some ice about and school has been canceled for today.
With the holiday down here that gives us 6 glorious days off in a row. Yahoo!!
My son will be on the computer 95% of that time here at home, and I'll be down in Roanoke, VA. for The Blue Ridge Challenge along with a handful of SOS team mates.
Thanks for the great job you do keeping us informed and for all the pictures!
