Results- Placid & Asturiana, 24 Hour Relay Almost Full, California Series, Photos, FIRS World Records

Results- Placid & Asturiana: Here are the results from MSI’s North American & US National Championship. Click here for results from the Liguilla Asturiana de Clubes 2007 (Las Mestas circuit) on MundoPatin (you can the photos). Click here for the final results from the 5th short track world cup. OhnoZone.net has extensive coverage of the event. On Bont’s Message Board, there is a report that Argentina’s Tamara Llorens set the Argentina 1500-meter long track record.

Jordan Malone, seen here in front of Italy's Yuri Confortola, won a couple of gold medals during this past weekend's world cup #5- while this is excellent news, it's also important to note that the Chinese, Korean, and Canadian teams didn't attend the competition (photo OhnoZone.net)

24 Hour Relay Almost Full: For reasons that I have yet to uncover, the 24 Hours Inline Montreal is capped at 60 teams this year. I just received an email from race organizers informing me that 50 of the 60 available slots are filled (and that’s of last Saturday). If you want to participate, make sure you register! Now I know that the burning question is if I will be there to help my team defent its title. Seeing that the event is very close to the Pan Am Games & World Championships, there's a good chance that I'll be there taking pictures and chilling out and not competing. I don't mean to brag (even though I am in a sense), but the teams I skated with won the event in the last 2 years and placed 2nd in the first year of the 24 hour. The skater who owns all the glory though it Mathias Archambeau who has been on the winning team all 3 years that the event has taken place.

California Series: Details on the California Cup Inline-Race Series have been posted on CORA’s website with the first race on March 25th and the last race on October 28th. During a day like today where the temperature is in the minus 25 Celsius range, I wish California was much closer to Mississauga- actually, I wish Mississauga was in California. Mmmmm.

Photos: Danceskater posted a whole whack of photos from the Embrach Indoor. If you didn’t click on the previous link, here are the photos from the Liguilla Asturiana de Clubes 2007 (Las Mestas circuit). Finally, Linda Wood added a whole bunch more photos from the inline skaters in a long track camp at the Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City.

FIRS World Records: I find that there’s always someone trying to find a list of current FIRS world records. Jim White provided a link to the records on the USARS site in a post on Bont’s Message Board.

Joey Mantia on his way to another world record at the 2006 world championships in Anyang, Korea- and this is one of the best skating photos that I've ever taken
