Paisley And Luigino, Anti Doping, Rain & Long Track- Love & Hate

Paisley And Luigino: Ten year old Paisley Perrie from Harriston, Ontario, has earned her first ever sponsorship. She will skate for Luigino in 2007. It’s nice to see that companies like Luigino are willing to get behind young skaters and their families.

Paisley will be competing this weekend in Ste-Foy, Quebec in long track ice races. She also competes in short track and of course, in inline skating. She has been re-writing record books in all three sports. Chances are you’ll see the 10 year old near the front of the pack at the upcoming Trois Pistes race in France.

Anti Doping: Here’s an excellent resource from the USARS website: 2007 Anti-Doping Policies and Information. It’s worth the browse and read.

Rain & Long Track- Love & Hate: Andrew Love’s recent entry on his website features a video that is worth clicking the play button to view. The video includes tons of footage of long track skaters frolicking with racing and rain, something that those of us who compete on roller/ inline skates are more used to than our fellow ice skaters. (click here for video or click play below)

The video might be fun to watch, but I think we can thinkg of a sport that isn’t enjoying the rain. Marathon skating on ice is struggling to keep the warm & rainy weather that is causing cancellations at bay. The latest ice marathon race to fall victim to the weather is the Vermont Ice Marathon which was scheduled for January 13th. This cancellation is a shame because the event is a really good one. In the past, the event allowed the skating community to get together for really good times; trust me; I’ve been to Lake Morey and raced this event. According to reports, there is virtually no ice on Lake Morey.

Interesting note from the video: I am pretty sure that I spotted Bob Tysen at about the 2:20 mark. Bob Tysen was an animal in long track ice skating and was also a beast in inline. Either knee or shoulder problems have kept Bob out of commission from ice and roller.

Pete,

that is bob that you spotted, he works for John Dimon in lake placid now...

one of his knees is messed up beyond repair, it's impossible for him to cross over anymore, but he can still go like mad in a straight line..

so he has turned his attention to duathlon, and is competing strongly at the world class level!!!

that is bob!!
