Get Well Travis Shaw

There was a crash during last night's Scooter's Indoor Speed Club practice. Three skaters fell down coming out of one of the corners and Travis Shaw got the worst of it: he ended up breaking some bones in his leg. Needless to say, it looked pretty bad and the paramedics took about 25 minutes to take him out of the rink.

When Travis was wheeled off the floor by the paramedics, we gave him a round of applause, much like both teams and fans do in ice hockey when a player is hurt and they are helped off the ice. Like it or not, we're a family and it really does hurts to see a friend and a team-mate go down like that.

Travis Shaw's serious face

I just wanted to take this time to wish Travis a speedy and complete recovery from his injury. I also wanted to talk about Travis just a little: He's one of those people who you never get tired of having around at practice, in fact, when he's not there, you wish he was there. It's funny because he showed up late at last night's practice because of traffic, and I found myself asking a few friends 'Where's Travis?' before he arrived at practice.

He's got this sweet inviting smile and a great personality. One minute he can hold a deep conversation with you, the next minute, he'll cover your butt because you can't make it out somewhere, and then he'll be the first one to hop into a wheelbarrow for wheelbarrow races on a banked track. On top of that, he's been working hard to attain certain goals including competing at the 2007 world championships and Pan American Games. He placed top-5 in the 300-meter sprint at the 2006 Canadian championships in Montreal.

Here's a few pictures of Travis that I had lying around inside my computer...Get well Travis Shaw.

This one's for the ladies- a topless Travis (bottom) with Rhett Cappleman at this year's 24 Hours Inline Montreal. Sorry girls- he does have a lucky lady in his life

Travis is sometimes serious, like here, in this picture

Travis is 2nd from the right- wearing a reversed skin suit at the 2006 RSC Indoor Championships

Travis is in 4th in the Mogema skin suit, out for a roadskate in Harriston

Travis (left) and Kevin Noh (right) out on a really cold day

Travis' trademark Quebec Nordiques t-shirt- weren't they a great hockey team?

Travis looks confused- will he sit? Will he stand?
