From Cali- Entry #12
From Cali- Entry #12: The 1000-meter heats and semi-finals took place earlier this morning. It was a pretty hot morning. I won't report on how the races went or put up any results; a lot of sites have done that already.
One things that did happen today was right before my 1000-meter heat (I was in the 6th senior men's heat), there was an electrical problem with the timing or computer system. Some of the electrical cords melted together.
This evening is the 15km elimination races. I think all the Canadians (except for Leah) is skating.
Before I leave you, here are a few items of interest; more pictures from skatingaroundthe worlds (daunegnc), Linda Wood's photos, The Media for the Cali World Championship Inline Skating Notebook, MundoPatin's worlds site, MundoPatin's day 1 photos, and more information in Inline World Championships LIVE coverage.
I took a few pictures today- here they are below-
Joey Mantia and our guide/ translator Victor- Joey Mantia won the 300-meter sprint last night. I noticed that a lot of people are asking to have a photo taken with him. He's always really and accepts, even before a race or right before and after medal presentations- Jesse Pauley took this one

Even though this building is falling apart, it had this look to it that made it seem beautiful. Did you notice the sticks holding up the wall?
We went out for dinner this afternoon and Mister Taylor was really happy with his ice cream...I had some too
