Pan American Games Trials- Day 1- We're 1/2 Way There!

Pan American Games Trials- Day 1- We're 1/2 Way There!: A few of you have left MSN messages on my perpetually-online-MSN asking about what hapenned today at the Pan American Games trials in Harriston. I'll give you a few Pan Am trials results- keep in mind that the sprint champion and the distance champion for the men and women qualify for the games; sprint and distance are contested over 3 races (there is 1 sprint and 2 distances left).

200-meter Pan Am women
1- Martine Charbonneau
2- Sarah Hopkins
3- Morgane Echardour

1000-meter Pan Am women
1- Martine Charbonneau
2- Sarah Hopkins
3- Morgane Echardour

20km elimination Pan Am women
1- Sarah Hopkins
2- Morgane Echardour
3- Martine Charbonneau

200-meter Pan Am men
1- Brian Jalbert
2- Jesse Pauley
3- Peter Doucet

1000-meter Pan Am men
1- Peter Doucet
2- Jesse Pauley
3- Jade Pauley

20km elimination Pan Am men
1- Peter Doucet
2- Jade Pauley
3- Jesse Pauley

Going into tomorrow, there's a ton of pressure on Brian Jalbert and Jesse Pauley in the sprint category. I am in the lead in points for sprint title, but I have a good shot at taking the distance title- I'm pretty sure that I will chose distance over sprint if I win both. In any case, wether I win or not, the sprint spot for the games will come down to who beats who between Brian and Jesse in the 500-meter sprint.

Yeppers; that's me leading Jade Pauley, Stephane Tremblay, and Mike Murray in the 20km race. I won this race- lapped the field twice.

Senior/ Pan Am men's 20km action

Morgane Echardour leads the senior/ Pan Am women's 20km race- in the draft are Pascale Messier, Sarah Hopkins, and Martine Charbonneau- the 20km was decided in a sprint with these four skaters

Robert Watson in the lead in the junior men's race- he won this one (20km).

Candy Wong and Gillian Clarke race it out

Micheal Garvin leads Morgan Williams
