Oily & Cell Pictures Of RSO/ Pan Am Trials
Oily & Cell Pictures Of RSO/ Pan Am Trials: This entry is party to show you how focused I was and where my thoughts were for the Pan Am trials and also to share a few pictures. During the trials, I wanted to keep 100% focus on racing and nothing else. A few weeks before the competition, I asked Eric Gee if he could take pictures for me so that I would not be concerned with taking photos. He took pictures on day 1. He didn’t get to take pictures with my camera on day 2 because I forgot my camera at home for the 2nd day of racing. Normally I would have panicked. However this time while driving up on Sunday morning and realized that I left my camera at home, I simply thought ‘oh well, whatever, it doesn’t matter’ instead of thinking ‘ah crap, I gotta go back cos I need pictures for SSW’.
Later during day 2, I realized I had a spare camera tucked away in the dashboard of my car. The camera’s lens is covered in oil, the batteries are dead, and it has very little memory. I still managed to take a few pictures after my position on the team was all but assured. I also have a few pictures from my cell phone- Before I send you off to look at my pictures, Shannon Hegarty posted photo album of some of the racing action- there’s some good stuff in her album. Ok, here’s what I got.
Phone Camera: This description is worth reading. This photo was taken about 1 1/2 hours prior to the 500-meter finals (RSO Senior Men/ Pan Am Trials). Brian Jalbert is on the left and Jesse Pauley is on the right. Whichever of these two skaters finished ahead of the other in the 500-meter sprint went on to the Pan Am Games since they were just about locked in a tie after 2 of 3 distances. They ate their lunch facing each other, staring at each other. Can you feel the pressure?!
Oily/ Low Battery/ No Memory Camera: Day 2 (Sunday) saw freezing temperatures- I swear to you that I saw snowflakes falling while I was warming up for the 10km points race. These guys figured out how to stay warm!
Oily/ Low Battery/ No Memory Camera: Liz Perrie, Paisley Perrie, and Bailin Xie
Oily/ Low Battery/ No Memory Camera: Eric Gee- he took many pictures with his SLR camera. Stay tuned for great action shots from him.
Oily/ Low Battery/ No Memory Camera: Il Peleton & company; left to right; JF Messier, Ursula, Stephane Tremblay, and Martine Charbonneau
Oily/ Low Battery/ No Memory Camera: Allain Legacy takes it easy before the 500-meter sprints. He was a beast in the final race for the RSO/ Pan Am men; he stuck in the pack in the 15km points race and managed to finish in 5th!
Oily/ Low Battery/ No Memory Camera: Ok, I don't know his name, but this was the funniest thing I saw; it was so cold that he started the race with his jacket on. After he started to heat up, it took him 6 laps to get his coat off! He struggled and struggled to get it off
Oily/ Low Battery/ No Memory Camera: Good guys from Ottawa!
Phone Camera: Good officials- Brad Arnold, Gillian Clarke, Pam Perrie, Wayne Burrett, Alex Perrie, and Beth Clarke
Phone Camera: See a few pictures ago for these girls' names
Phone Camera: The same girls from the last picture on the podium :)
Phone Camera: Juvenile boys
Phone Camera: Morgan Williams (1st) and Micheal Garvin (2nd)
Phone Camera: Maude (Brian's partner), Brian Jalbert, and Morgane Echardour
Phone Camera: Dennis Thompson (2nd and slimmed down!), Mister Pauley (1st), and Harold Osborne (3rd)
Phone Camera: Sarah Hopkins (1st) and Pascale Messier (2nd)
Phone Camera: Gillian Clarke (1st) and (AHH I don't know your name....)
Phone Camera: Junior men
Phone Camera: Senior men sprint- JF Messier (1st), Mike Murray (2nd), me (3rd)
Phone Camera: Sarah Hopkins (left) and ...(name please!)
Phone Camera: Alex Perrie- he's probably laughing at Wayne Burrett who is holding the mic
Phone Camera: When all was said and done, I took this picture of the track in the late-afternoon sun...there's a huge weight off my shoulders now that I've qualified for the Pan Am Games.
2 Comments:
its not oily, its merely a nod to impressionism..
its ART!!! and it gave a kind of nice, misty quality to the images..
