Worlds Tickets On Sale, Videos- GBC & FIC, SF Marathon- $3000 Up For Grabs, Putin's 110's, Italy Champs Results, Friendlies, USA Pan Am Team
Worlds Tickets On Sale: Let the show begin; from what I gather, it looks like the tickets for the World Championships are on sale. This year's world championsips are taking place in Cali, Colombia. Speaking of tickets, I purchased my plane ticket for worlds on Saturday morning, so I guess I am going wether I qualify or not. Man, it's expensive.
Videos- GBC & FIC: Wanna see German Blade Challenge videos? There's a whole bunch of great videos here, including the June 10th race- lots of girls in pink suits.
Roller En Ligne recently posted some pretty sweet videos from the Dijon FIC including one of the team time trial and an interview with Nathalie Barbotin (it's in french). It's a good interview with details about the attacks by Nicole Begg and a vivid description of when they were caught by the men's pack and how that impacted the race.
SF Marathon- $3000 Up For Grabs: The San Francisco Inline Marathon, which is taking place on August 12th, will have $3000 in prize money. Pretty sweet deal!
Putin's 110's: If you speak French, you're probably aware that the word 'putin' is sort of a swear word- it's usually used before a more 'hard-core' swear word so that it increases the effectiveness. In the realm of the many family and last names that have been created, I think it is likely that you know that it's the last name of one of Russia's politial elite-
Italy Champs Results: The full results with times and all the Italian names that you could want to read; click here.
Friendlies: I call this part of today's entry friendlies because it features two good guys who love the sport and do lots to make it better. Check out EGC Skates; the site has been redesigned, and with entries titled There aren’t enough hours in the day (I know all about this) and Version 2.0, Bootmaking 101, Patience, the website has more substance and lots of good stuff for you to read.
Andrew Love's website is often one of my internet destiations. I know I don't link up to all of his material all the time, but his entry Breakfast? talks about boiling your bearings. You might remember this bearing-cleaning technique from the Eddy Matzger video. I usually use water to clean out my bearings right after a race, and then I used rubbing alcohol to wash out the water. It's cheap, available, and it doesn't smell.
Hot and clean- photo from Andrew Love
USA Pan Am Team: USA Roller Sports announced its 2007 Pan American Games team. I wonder who I will race against; will it be Joey Mantia, who earlier today won the Zurich WIC (and a new car!!) or will it be Jonathan Garcia?
