Weekend Recap, Kevin Frost Deaf-Blind Speedskating, KNSB Vids, Essent Pics, Boots, Night Race, Brian's Team Skating, Week With Anniek ter Haar, Tahiti

Weekend Recap: I woke up this morning to a sight that I don't like- lots and lots of snow. I don't want to shovel the snow. It's my day off from training and my knee hurts!

Maybe I'll just let the snow sit there and wait for it to melt. The things that pisses me off is that the snow didn't come tomorrow. I reallt could have used a snow day. Then again, my grade 1-2-3 choir needs a ton of practice for the holiday assembly- Festival Of Lights.

Outside of the Speed Skate World global headquaters- where all the magic happens

Now I am sitting in my room waiting for the snow to melt and working on SSW. I'll cave in and go outside in a few minutes and shovel the snow and clear off my car- heck I'll make it so that my drive way is the cleanest one in my neighbourhood- it will be cleaner than Candy Wong's. I offered her $5 to shovel my drive way and she refused! Pff; see if I ever shover hers.

I was thinking that its funny how some of us like to write about the first (or 2nd) snow fall- see Andrew Love's First Snow for an example of what I mean.

Speaking of clean driveways, this weekend's races are finished- you can check out all the world cup results from short track in Italy and long track in Russia.

You can find a whole bunch of material on Speed Skating World Online Magazine; men's 10k A, men's 10k B, women's 1500, and an article on the venue. Carl Verheijen was injured in the first lap of his 10k- more here.

Kevin Frost Deaf-Blind Speedskating: I don't know how recent his website is and I don't know how Kevin Frost's goal at having the International Paralympic Committee's to recognize deaf-blind speed skating as a sport is going. The things that blew me away is the video attached to the article in Irked Magazine; Featured Athlete- make sure you check out the video and see what he sees when he's skating.

KNSB Vids: Skate Podium is pumping up the internet's quality with videos from this weekened's KNSB Cup #9 from Galeen- see men's B video and men's A video. You can find the women's video here.

Essent Pics: As usual, Harm de Boer Fotografie has a whole bunch of pictures for you to explore and drool over (don't drool on your keyboard though); mind you they're not photos from Geleen; they're from the Essent Cup #7 in Eindhoven- men's A race and women's race.

Boots: These pink Micro Boots are pretty sweet. A friend sent me the link, and I figured I'd put up a photo of the pink boots on my site to attract more female visitors to SSW. They also make them in green. If I was to buy those boots, I would get them in green instead of pink.

Night Race: Good tunes and fast racing; all the necessary ingredients are present for a good video; see Night speed skating race!.

Brian's Team Skating: Flyin Brian put up a post called Team Skating 101 & World Records. He has linked up to 5 short track videos from the Netherlands short track world cup #3 to show examples of team skating in short track. Below (and here) is one of the videos; the camera angle is fantastic- you can see everything!

Week With Anniek ter Haar: Skate Podium recently documented Anniek ter Haar's week so that us mortals can get a glimpse into the life of a speed skater.

Tahiti: I was recently sent these pictures that I wish I was in; they were taken in Tahiti and they feature Denmark's Cathrine Grage in 2006.
