WIC, Powerslide Hits The Ice, A Few Links For You To Explore, Videos, Gavin Pollock Skiing & Skating
WIC: The start of the 2007 World Inline Cup is just around the corner, and some skaters are asking what they need to do to get onto the racing circuit. Bill Begg puts it in 10 words in the – 2007 WIC post on RaceReports.net’s Forum; ‘get off your arce & Show you desperately want to’. Even though it was minus 20-some odd Celsius yesterday here in Toronto, and probably colder in some other places, I hear that the weather is quite warm in some of the countries that are hosting WIC races- of course that’s all relatively speaking. Just about anything will be warm when compared to the weather that we’re facing where I live. The conditions are just not good for skating; the frames on my skates get so cold when I skate in these temperatures that the whole boot is frozen within a few minutes, and my feet are numb within 10 minutes or so.

A Few Links For You To Explore: Here are a few more links that will help you fill those voids in your day (you can thank me by telling me that I rock): Roller91.fr and ROLLERSports.tv, which has nothing on it that I can find as I am writing this- maybe they will put stuff on the site later.
Videos: Below are a few videos from the Stage Hyères 2007 that will get us snow birds yearning even more for normal temperatures- please note that by normal, I mean skateable! (video 1 and video 2) Note the trees and the green vegetation in the video! It definitely beats the slush, salt, crazy snow banks, and sand covered roads! The worst part about skating in Toronto/ Canada in the winter time is not that all the tracks are covered in ice and snow and it’s absolutely freezing, but rather that the snow banks on the roads take up so much space that there is just enough room for cars to drive by; even when the roads are dry in the winter time, it’s not safe to skate on the streets because of how much space cars need.
Gavin Pollock Skiing & Skating: What can I say about Gavin Pollock? He rocks! I got to hang out with him in Korea at the world championships and he’s a really cool/ fun/ good guy. Want to see pictures of him and his crew skiing and skating? Then click here, or look down.
