What is Success?, Results & Reports, Pictures

What is Success?: I am applying for support from CAN Fund. They recently asked me to define success. This is what I wrote: Success is the path that leads to the eventual realization of a goal through realistic, ambitious, well thought out, and pre-planned choices. Success includes a conscious effort to make choices that have a positive impact on individuals and in the community. In the quest and journey to success, it is important to first learn, apply, and share new knowledge. The path to success may be thought out and pre-planned, but it does require the ability and an understanding that being successful usually takes place in a dynamic and changing setting. Success usually requires support. Finally, success is a relative endeavour; one person's failure may be someone else's success. That means that when reaching for success, we need to make sure we are supportive and respectful of each other.

I think that how I define success allows me to asses a whole bunch of different goals and aspirations in my life. So why do I talk about it here? I’m not sure, but I felt like I could share this with you.

Andrew Love posted another really cool entry World Championships, 500m commentaries. It’s worth taking a few minutes and reading it over and also checking out the video. IMO, it’s one of the best speed skating videos that I’ve seen on the web in a long long time. Andrew gets Tucker Fredrick’s coach (Ryan Shimabukuro) to talk candidly and honestly about the 500-meter race, which includes Fredricks and Korea’s Kang-Seok Lee who set the 500-meter world record in this very race. There’s lots of good insight that is shared, but what shines out even more is how well Fredricks’ coach knows him really well. I was thinking whether or not I should embed the video on my site- I don’t want to take away from Andrew Love’s site, but I think this video is too great of a video to let is pass by. Click here or press play to view.

Results & Reports: Click here for the results from the Squiggy Inline Marathon. Top men’s finisher was Michael Taylor while the top women’s finisher was Sophie Webb.

Mundo Patin has a report from the Tercera Carrera de Liguilla Asturiana.

Pictures: I’ll start you off with some great pictures on Yahoo from this past weekend’s long track single distance world championships in Salt Lake City, Utah. Click here to view the gallery. The next set of pictures comes from Roller-Numerique- they’re form a road skate. Two more sets of photos; Mundo Patin has photos from the Tercera Carrera de Liguilla Asturiana and Pattinaggio Bellusco has pictures from the Campionati Interprovinciali Strada RAJS in Giussano, Italy.
